Profile
Tongai Mafidi Mnangagwa was born on 10 February 1978 in Zambia, the son of Mafidi Mnangagwa. He moved to Zimbabwe as a child, attending Haig Park Primary School in Harare, O Levels at Gokomere High School in Masvingo Province, and completing his secondary education at Prince Edward School, Harare. He holds a certificate in marketing from Harare Polytechnic and is pursuing a Bachelor of Science Honours in Development Studies at the Zimbabwe Open University.
He joined ZANU–PF at the age of 18 and became youth chairperson for the party's Tangwena District at 20. Moving through the Leopold Takawira District in Harare, he rose from committee member to political commissar of the main board — a two-decade climb through the party's structures long before he stood for office.
He is the nephew of President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Beyond politics and business, he is the founder of Tonganyika Trust, which connects Zimbabwean communities with free vocational and skills training programmes.
Political Journey
Begins in party structures, becoming youth chairperson for the Tangwena District two years later, then rising through Harare's Leopold Takawira District to political commissar of the main board.
Won the seat with 39% of the vote against a divided opposition field, and was sworn into Parliament on 5 September 2018. In office, he championed the Stoneridge Health Centre and income-generating projects such as soap-making, and pushed grid connections across the constituency.
Won the newly created Hunyani seat in the 23–24 August 2023 harmonised elections, carrying strongholds including Retreat.
Named to Cabinet by President Emmerson Mnangagwa on 11 September 2023, working alongside Minister Barbra Rwodzi to grow Brand Zimbabwe.
Registered the club in the ZIFA Eastern Region's Mashonaland East Division Two league, restricting the squad to players from Hunyani Constituency to build a pipeline for local talent.

Launched Harare South's road rehabilitation and title deeds programme to correct colonial-era disparities that left roughly 90% of houses in high-density areas without title, with the first 5,000 households targeted to receive documents.
Spearheaded this health-sector project during his first term as MP for Harare South, alongside grid-connection work across the constituency.
Backed community projects such as soap-making to give constituents an independent income stream.
Founded and patrons a football club that signs only players from Hunyani, giving local youth a platform and a route into the game rather than buying in outside talent.
